Week 3: The role of Blue Hydrogen and CCS for the pathway to net-zero emissions
February 3, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Al Cook is the Executive Vice President for Development and Production International at Equinor. In that role, he holds responsibility for Equinor’s international operations. In addition, he leads global strategy, sustainability, and business development.
In the UK, Equinor is involved in a significant number of Net Zero projects. A key example would be the H2H (Hydrogen to Humber) Saltend project. Here, hydrogen will be produced from natural gas, with the associated carbon emissions captured and permanently stored offshore in the Southern North Sea. That blue hydrogen will then be used to create UK’s first net-zero industrial cluster.
In this talk, Al would discuss the opportunities in both Blue Hydrogen and CCS. He will also discuss their necessity to a net-zero carbon future as well as how Equinor’s operations in the UK are contributing to that future.
